We’ll prepare your water tank by undertaking a full service clean (draining, scrubbing, vacuuming, and rinsing the interior), and we’ll pressure wash to prepare the surfaces. Most of the process happens inside the tank with specialised cement plaster and reinforcing mesh, cracks ground and filled, and interior walls rendered and packed out with an additional 8-10mm of solid plaster. We then apply a special sealant which, when applied to a concrete surface, active chemicals combine with the free lime and moisture present in the capillary tracts of the concrete plaster over time to form an insoluble, crystalline structure. These crystals continuously fill the pores and micro cracks in the concrete plaster preventing any further water ingress. Our final rinses then reduce any lime/alkaline and minimise any odour or taste to the water once your tank is refilled.
But is it safe? Of course. We are proud of our reputation for providing excellent chemical-free water tank cleaning and we were very careful when choosing our repair products and establishing our processes. The products we have chosen to work with are suitable for use with potable water and therefore can be safely used in water storage tanks.
